Magnaguard Manufacturing, typically known as either Magnaguard or Magna, a droid-manufacturing corporation that was once a member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and later a subsidiary of the Corporate Sector Authority, now serves as a nationalized faction of the Galactic Empire.

As one of the oldest automata producers in the galaxy, Magnaguard has established itself in a wide range of markets, such as astromechs with the R3 and R5 models, industry with the D8 Smelter and GNK Power Droid, intelligence gathering with the 2X-3KPR and Probe Droids, and heavy warfare with the highly capable Destroyer Droid. Through relationships with other corporations, Magnaguard has also extended its reach to the lucrative medical droid market.

Role

Magnaguard Manufacturing is the sole supplier of droids to the Galactic Empire and sells to individuals and factions that are allied or neutral to the Imperial Union.

Structure

Administratively part of the Ministry of Industry, the head of Magnaguard Manufacturing is the Deputy Director. The second-in-command is typically the Operations Manager. Two divisions within Magnaguard are Production and Transportation.

History

Magnaguard Manufacturing was a nationalized faction of the Corporate Sector Authority lead by Mystiel Raleigh, Kam Farlight, Zorran Black and Orion Silverhelm. Although the CSA government was overseen by a number of different leaders over the years, as time went by it became clear that managing a government was quite unlike managing their regular corporate entities. CSA, along with its nationalized factions, continued to function, they were consistently held back by poor decision making and exploitation from thieves and pirates. It was eventually discovered that the CSA had also been dealing with other factions hostile to the Empire, and a unanimous decision was made to re-nationalize the Corporate Sector Authority. Nationalization of the Corporate Sector Authority occurred on Y10D72.

The Empire worked diligently to gain complete control of the CSA and its factions, including Magnaguard Manufacturing, Primus Medical, Paradox Resource Exploration, Myorzo Weapon Systems, Universal Network Bank and Silverhelm Entertainment Media Incorporated.

At the time, the CSA had control of both the Corporate and Kanz Sectors. The facilities located there were turned over to the Empire, and the Sectors were integrated in to Moff Imperium's existing Oversector Dolomar. With no systems left to govern, the Corporate Sector Authority was reverted back to a Security Faction, but has since been dissolved. Magnaguard was one of the factions preserved intact for service to the Galactic Empire.

In the aftermath of the nationalization process, over 200 million in credits and assets were looted from Magnaguard Manufacturing before the faction could be locked down. A handful of Imperials, led by the youngest brother of Orphaea, Melkhior Imperium, took temporary control of Magnaguard until a permanent leader could be found, and the the stolen assets returned (which they were a few days later).

Haran Ran was chosen as the new leader, having served there before joining the Galactic Empire. However, just a few weeks after being appointed leader, it was discovered that Ran intended to sell various Magnaguard assets to the New Republic in exchange for over a billion in credits. Immediately after the discovery, a number of Imperials moved in to remove Ran, and Melkhior Imperium was once again sent to secure the faction until a new leader could be found.

Inwe Ventidius left the ranks of the Imperial Navy to join COMPNOR to assist in the expansion of the Empire. However, before the transfer files were even processed, she had been redesginated to take leadership of Magnaguard. Ventidius joined Magnaguard and worked with Imperium to transfer management of the faction. Although the faction had been somewhat inactive since Ran's betrayal, Ventidius immediately and effectively implemented ideas to restore Magnaguard to its purpose.

Magnaguard was re-established in the Core after Ventidius took the reins of the faction. The group is now based on the industrial world of Gorbas in the Nevoota system. The Coruscant location makes the products far more convenient to the galaxy at-large and opens up a variety of resources to the faction.

On Year 11 Day 008, Artemis Imperium took over as faction leader when Inwe Ventidius accepted a position at Kuat Drive Yards. There was a solemn atmosphere as Ventidius left, but also one of excitement and anticipation. Imperium had served faithfully with Ventidius as her right hand man and she held every confidence that Imperium would continue the exemplary standard set for Magnaguard.

Imperium was only leader of Magnaguard for a short time before he had to seek retirement due to his attentions being required at an industrial build up in another sector. He was replaced by Gael Black-Granger. Although Black-Granger started with ambitious intentions, it quickly became apparent that the manufacturing of droids was not the sole focus of the new Deputy Director. Production suffered and many projects that had been started under Ventidius lapsed into stagnant forgetfulness.

In an attempt to reinvigorate the lagging faction, Assistant Manager Crueya Vandron the 2IC of Imperial Resource Extractions, was transferred to Magnaguard. Promoted to Operations Manager, Vandron joined the command staff of Magnaguard and began to restore the productivity of the faction. In year 11, when he was already the effective leader, his success was rewarded with a formal promotion to Deputy Director and the leader proper of Magnaguard Manufacturing. After the change, the expansion and productivity of the faction began to increase ever more quickly.

After more then half of year since Deputy Director Vandron took over the leadership of Magnaguard, the faction has produced more droids then anyone even expected. Now Magnaguard has a new leadership, Deputy Director Tyris Elensar. Director Vandron left him in charge knowing that he will make the faction even bigger and better.
