Biography

Early Life

CHAR1-2.jpg
Young Creg and Sayla

Early in his life, Creg grew up with his younger sister, Sayla on a planet controlled by the New Republic with a temperate atmosphere similar to Corellia like any normal child would. Sadly, he does not recall any precious or happy memories from this period of time except for a few vague, unclear memories. The family was rather aristocratic, complete with a mansion and with large but not infinite funds. His father was a militaristic man, having prior service in the New Republic Armed Forces as an Officer before being given a dishonorable discharge upon false allegations of having intentions of defecting to the Empire. Agreeing, Casval decided to retire to a quiet life to properly raise his children. He had a habit of wearing military-like uniforms off-duty which he passed on to his son.

For a while, it seemed that Creg had a perfect, happy life, but that was soon cut abrutbly short. When he was around 6, New Republic Intelligence feared that Creg's father, Casval would soon actually join the Imperials decided to eliminate the old man. Fortunately, the assassins were rather ill-prepared and the family were able to escape with their lives but were forced to leave all their possessions behind save a few. However, an encounter with an infantry unit sent to finish the job should the assassins fail split the unfortunate family in two, with Creg and his father having to escape on different transports than his mother and sister. Casval hypothesised that the NR would certainly take another attempt on their lives, he decided to flee to the most remote place he could think of, a remote space colony.

The earliest memories that Creg can recall involve growing up in a space colony in the outer reaches of New Republic territory. The cramped conditions and limited food supplies easily forge close bonds between residents as they struggle for survival. A small child was no exception. Every single person had to help in someway. Being the only child in his family brought added burden, Creg had to quickly learn the ropes trying to help in various ways such as growing food to bolster the limited food supplies. It didn't take too long for him to earn enough credits to purchase what he needed the most by replenishing vital food supplies, and performing maintenance on the deteriorating colony from the days of the Republic. Unfortunately, most colonies are poorly defended if defended at all and have no weapons and are easily subject to raids by pirates and slavers. It was inevitable that the colony Creg grew up in would be eventually attacked by such a raid.

There had not been a raid for quite a few years since the previous attempt by pirates. Fearing one would arrive soon, his father, Casval Loran, decided to take charge of the local militia and tried to teach his son how to wield a blaster, in case he would have to defend himself against the inevitable. Luckily, his training would soon serve him well. When Creg was around 16, the colony suffered its largest raid in many years. The pirates had been waiting for the colony to 'recover' before attacking it again. The grace period allowed Casval to purchase some weapons with what limited credits the colony had and turned the rag-tag militia into a rather formidable force. The ex-officer along with other members of the local militia fought valiantly, but soon fell to overwhelming numbers and firepower. Creg tried to participate in the battle as well, gunning down several pirates, but soon ran at the command of a dying father. He hid in the corner of his father's room, hoping for some sort of miracle. The 'miracle' came too late. New Republic forces arrived to aid the doomed colony, but a little too late. The raiders had already left with their loot and left a near empty graveyard. This forever branded the image of a weak, corrupt, and failing Republic in Loran's mind.

Early Adulthood

New Republic officials decided to scrap the damaged colony and evict any residents that were still alive. Creg soon found himself on the way to a populated New Republic planet on an immigrant freighter. The standard of living was poor and the people lived in relative poverty while NR officials bathed in luxury, causing great resentment among the people. The populace along with Creg resisted for several years, but hatred soon reached boiling point. It was inevitable that anti-NR movements rose among some of the enraged populace. Remembering his hate towards the NR for failing to save his father, he also held destructive feelings similar to many of the planet's residence, but suppressed them to earn enough credits to survive and search for his mother and sister. However, after the first protests took place, the local NR government took rather extreme measures to disperse the crowds and arrested anyone suspected of belonging to anti-NR groups. Creg was soon arrested, dragged from his apartment, and interrogated. Despite explaining his non-involvement with anti-NR groups, his interrogators did not believe him. Realizing that they had run out of truth serum interrogating previous suspects, the interrogators resorted to cruel violence and beatings instead. Luckily, they soon gave up and decided to bring another victim in instead. The police eventually released him, but not before registering his iris into their archives and being labelled as a potential criminal or terrorist. After being thrown out of the police station, Creg crawled back to his apartment a torn and battered man.

Fortunately, his encounter with local authorities allowed allowed his sister to eventually track him to his place of residence. However, Sayla was a bearer of grim news. She told him that their mother had been murdered several years ago by the same group of assassins that had failed on their first attempt and had tracked the mother-daughter pair, thinking that they were following their target, his dead father. The assassins soon found out that they were tracking the wrong person, but killed her mother anyway. Learning that both his parents had been killed directly and indirectly by the Republic, he sought to take revenge on the Republic that ruined his and his sister's lives. Against Salya's objections, Creg decided to take more direct, aggressive action against the Republic and joined the anti-NR terrorist group, Mafty.

It was around this time that he begun sunglasses to hide his identity, which later became habit, even when there was no longer need to hide. He took part in several terrorist bombings of NR government buildings and installations, but the damage done was minimal and was easy to recover from while the losses to the terrorist group were great. He continued a year or so being in direct involvement in the group's activities despite his sister's pleas to stop and lead a less risky, dangerous life. Thankfully, she was eventually successful. After moving to Coruscant to find a better career, Sayla was embezzled by Coruscant's glamour and majesty. She immediately invited her brother to live with her who reluctantly agreed. However, Creg soon figured out that he had been wasting years of his life with pointless terrorist acts after he learned that the best possible way to oppose the NR, was to join up with the GE. After a fond farewell, brother and sister decided to keep contact and communication to a minimum, due to the risk of them still being hunted by the NR. He found the nearest Imperial Recruiter he could fine, and promptly joined the Imperial Academy.

It didn't take long for Creg to graduate from the Imperial Academy and he soon chose to join the Army, since it more reflects the skills he learned and are adept at from his adolescence. He was soon assigned to the Second Brigade under CO Mark Ein Arton and XO Geno Krall as a Private. With enthusiasm and effort put into his duty as a soldier, it didn't take long for Creg to start climbing through the ranks when appropriate. He soon experienced a change in CO. Mark Ein Arton had to leave the brigade for unknown reasons, and the former CO of the 4th Brigade, Zenchi Senkusha, stepped in instead. However, Zenchi's position as CO of the 2nd Brigade did not last long, he was eventually branded as a traitor of the Empire due to unexpected events that brought in a whole reorganization of the Army. Brigades turned into Legions, the 4th Brigade was disbanded, and a new CO was introduced to the Hellhounds, Major Graeda L'Annan. It was under her command the Creg eventually became XO of the Legion.
