Magnaguard Manufacturing, typically known as either Magnaguard or Magna, a droid-manufacturing corporation that was once a member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and later a subsidiary of the Corporate Sector Authority, now serves as a nationalized faction of the Galactic Empire.

As one of the oldest automata producers in the galaxy, Magnaguard has established itself in a wide range of markets, such as astromechs with the R3 and R5 models, industry with the D8 Smelter and GNK Power Droid, intelligence gathering with the 2X-3KPR and Probe Droids, and heavy warfare with the highly capable Destroyer Droid. Through relationships with other corporations, Magnaguard has also extended its reach to the lucrative medical droid market.

Role

Magnaguard Manufacturing is the sole supplier of droids to the Galactic Empire and sells to individuals and factions that are allied or neutral to the Imperial Union.

Structure

Administratively part of the Ministry of Industry, the head of Magnaguard Manufacturing is the Deputy Director. The second-in-command is typically the Operations Manager. Two divisions within Magnaguard are Production and Transportation.

History

Magnaguard Manufacturing was a nationalized faction of the Corporate Sector Authority until the governing authority was annexed by the Galactic Empire due to evidence of mismanagement, failure to meet basic productivity and staffing requirements, and dealings with other factions hostile to the Empire.

Before the Empire gained administrative control over Magnaguard, over 200 million in credits and assets had been looted from the company. A handful of Imperials, including Melkhior Imperium, took temporary control of Magnaguard until a permanent leader could be found, and they arranged for the stolen assets to be returned.

Haran Ran was chosen as the new leader, having served there before joining the Galactic Empire. However, just a few weeks after being appointed leader, it was discovered that Ran intended to sell various Magnaguard assets to the New Republic in exchange for over a billion in credits. Immediately after the discovery, a number of Imperials moved in to remove Ran, and Melkhior Imperium was once again sent to secure the faction until a new leader could be found.

Inwe Ventidius, a veteran pilot in the Imperial Navy who had retired to join COMPNOR, was selected as the new leader of Magnaguard Manufacturing. Ventidius joined Magnaguard and worked with Imperium to transfer management of the faction. Although the faction had been somewhat inactive since Ran's betrayal, Ventidius immediately and effectively implemented ideas to restore Magnaguard to its purpose.

Magnaguard was re-established in the Core after Ventidius took the reins of the faction. The group is now based on the industrial world of Gorbas in the Nevoota System. The Coruscant location makes the products far more convenient to the galaxy at-large and opens up a variety of resources to the faction. On Year 11 Day 008, Artemis Imperium took over as faction leader when Inwe Ventidius accepted a position at Kuat Drive Yards.
