Humanocentrism, or xenophobia, is the belief in the superiority of Humans and the tendency to view the galaxy from the perspective of the Human majority.

Overview

Humans are inherently superior to other species, this is the popular belief when studying Galactic history and society. Proponents of Humanocentrism will point to the fact that Humans founded the Galactic Empire, that many of the galaxy's best known military leaders and heroes are Humans, that the Core Worlds are almost all founded and universally inhabited by Humans, that Coruscant, the Galactic capital, is widely believed to have been the homeworld of Human-kind.

While more passive than Human High Culture, Humanocentrism is pervasive and in many cases, subconscious. It is the source for the Human use of the term "alien" to describe nonhuman species and in some cases tends towards nonhuman speciesism. As such, the term is often synonymous with that variety of speciesism.

History

Although Humanocentrism was once technically outlawed by the Rights of Sentience clause of the Galactic Constitution, it still very much existed throughout the life of the Old Republic. Planets such as Taris reserved the best sections of the world for Humans, while forcing non-Humans into ghettos.

Although much of this took place in the areas of the Galaxy where the Old Republic had tenuous control at best (such as the Outer Rim), or no control (such as the Senex Sector), much of it still existed where the Old Republic was very much in control.

Galactic Empire

The Galactic Empire has established three classes of citizenship that all citizens are allocated to. Each class of citizenship is based on the particular species of each citizen, with each class holding different status, privilege and rights within Imperial law, and differing opportunities of service for those citizens wishing to serve within the Galactic Empire.

The Empire advocates Humanocentrism, The Imperial policy of Human High Culture is not actively anti-nonhuman; it simply classifies nonhumans as cultural and ethnic minorities. The foundations of the Empire rest on the views of the Human majority, and as such the Empire heavily promotes such views through COMPNOR. The Order of the Sith welcomes acceptable Force-sensitives of all species within their ranks, and could in no way be viewed as xenophobic.

Human High Culture

The chief tenet of Human High Culture is that Humans are the only truly intelligent and productive members of any society. That it is almost exclusively Humans who formed and lead the Galactic Empire and the Human worlds of the Core are some of the oldest, richest, and most advanced in the galaxy.
