A member of the Chiss species, Tarq is a true believer of the values of the New Order and dedicated his life to serve it to his utmost capacity.

Early Life

Tarq was born on Y - 2, D 211 on a remote space station somewhere in the deep space surrounding the Csilla system. At birth, his full name was Mithant'arq'kruger, and in accordance with the Chiss tradition, he was given Tarq as his shortened name. Krugers were famed explorers for the Chiss dating back generations, reflected in the family's coat of arms of an arrow shooting in the sky. Tarq's father had continued on this path all his life, identifying new hyperspace routes from Csilla into the Inner Core and mapping out most of this sector for the CEDF. Most of Tarq's early childhood was spent in the small, cramped space of his parents' scout shuttle, Fertilia, with not many friends besides the countless tomes that laid in the data pads of the ship's library. They would spend several days and sometimes weeks in the darkness of the hyperspace void and only making landfall in the crummy, second-tier trading stations of backwater Core planets. Tarq was an easy child with a keen eye to learn, and in his formative years, he built up the curious and resilient personality that made him the man he was.

Attack at Empress Teta

All of this changed on Y 8, during a routine mapping journey the Krugers took to the Empress Teta system to confirm the locations of the new Imperial Golans there. Just as Tarq's father Dalan was negotiating the prices of the provisions for their return trip, a small armada of bandits, calling themselves "Rebels", attacked the system, bombarding the stations protecting the main planets. Tarq and his mother was stuck in their freighter watching in horror as the station where Dalan was located was blown to pieces. By the time the PDF started engaging the bandits, the ion cannons from their pirate ships neutralised many starships present in the system, including Fertilia. In a desperate attempt to rescue her child, Ferda tried to reengage the sublight drive, but hours of works resulted in an engine explosion that killed her and destroyed 1/3rd of the ship.

Tarq was left for dead, trying frantically to communicate with anybody that could help them when an Imperial Taskforce lead by three ISDs exited the hyperspace and filled up the front view of the cockpit in full glory. After a brief battle and suffering very heavy losses, the Rebels withdrew from the system, leaving the Imperial forces in control of the battle space. As rescue teams wandered around the system looking for survivors, a Sentinel-shuttle picked up Tarq's SOS messages, and soon a team of Imperial engineers boarded the Chiss spacecraft.

Rescued from imminent death, Tarq was relieved to be brought in front of Commodore Alders, a middle-aged, grey-haired veteran of the Imperial Navy that was in command of the task force. Commodore was surprised by the poise that this alien carried himself with, as well as by the detailed knowledge he had of the Core systems and vessel schematics. Noting the potential in the young teenager, he proposed two alternatives, Tarq could either receive supplies and provisions to repair his parents' vessel and return to the Chiss space, or he could join the Anaxes Naval Academy from the Planetary Representative program and serve the New Order around the galaxy. The choice was easy for Tarq, and he boarded on a shuttle as a passenger to the Anaxes.

Education

Anaxes was not an easy place to train for an alien like Tarq. Filled with wealthy kids from Core with strong anti-alien biases, the school was not accustomed to alien students during the Imperial era. Despite proving himself worthy of being there by besting academic challenges and playing in the shock ball team, it became apparent to Tarq that a career in the Imperial Military would be unlikely for him. Therefore he spent most of his academic credits on lessons such as Leadership, Strategic Thinking and Conflict Resolution, hoping that the coursework would prepare him well for the government duties and he would be able to pursue that path.

Imperial Service

Tarq signed up to the Imperial Academy on Y 19, D 212 at Prakith. His past experience in both piloting and academic courses served him well, and he graduated at a rapid pace after passing his examinations with an almost perfect grade, only one question wrong. Due to his historical performance, some say he is the best Chiss recruit in the history of the Empire, if not the best Class B alien recruit.
