==Early Life==

Kurt Vellin was born on the planet Kiffu into clan Vellin. Since before he was born the clan had been involved in a bloody and violent feud with another rival clan. Kurt's mother wished for him to become a musician and stay away from the conflict, but Kurt's father wanted him to become a warrior. The feud turned into all out war and when Kurt was a teenager most of his clan was wiped out. Having no home, the young man wandered and lived in the major cities of his homeworld, trying to survive with a mix of legit jobs and more morally questionable ones.Homeless and with nowhere to go, he took the first opportunity to go off world when he was recruited by the Empire

Kurt was born on the planet Kiffu into Clan Vellin, which was a tribe of nomadic artists, musicians, and lore-masters. As a child, he discovered he had a talent for music while his sister Gretta was a natural born artist, and the children were pushed by their mother to train in the traditional ways of the Clan. Their father, and several other prominent men of the tribe stressed the importance of training those skilled in martial arts, rather than traditional arts. These sentiments were largely ignored until years later. While growing up and studying the Kiffarian Pan Flute, Kurt spent most of his days exploring and causing mischief. One day in year 10, Clan Vellin was attacked by mysterious raiders while trying to cross a river. The casualties were high, but Kurt and his parents managed to survive the assault. His sister, however, perished. Vowing revenge, Kurt's father gathered the rest of the men to hunt down who had slain so many of their people. The young Kiffar wanted to follow his father on the hunt, but his mother disapproved, still holding on to the old Vellin ways. Kurt followed his father, disregarding his mother's pleas. His father trained him to fight with a blade and slugthrower while the men searched for clues. Eventually, the men of Clan Vellin located their assailants, engaging in a skirmish with the opposing group. Kurt's father was shot down, but ultimately revenge was claimed for the Clan. Once more the boy had escaped with his life, and followed the men back to the rest of the tribe. When the ordeal was over, Kurt grew distant from his mother, preferring to spend his time alone, either playing his pan flute or wandering off from the tribe. When he was with the Clan, he often spoke out against the old ways of peace, taking his father's view of armed diplomacy. After almost 19 years on Kiffu, Kurt was thrown into the galactic scene after a discovery in the mountains of his homeworld.

While wandering through the mountains, Kurt noticed a flare launched from somewhere nearby. Upon investigating, he discovered a small Imperial recon outpost under attack by howlrunners. Stepping in to provide support, Kurt helped the Imperials drive back the vicious creatures. Rather than being thanked however, he was detained and almost executed for trespassing. After all, the troopers couldn't have anyone spread word about their covert operations. One trooper interceded on his behalf though, and reasoned with the team leader. The trooper spoke of how Kurt had helped save them, and that he shouldn't be killed. The team leader eventually agreed, and struck a deal with the young man. He would be spared if he joined the Empire. Kurt chose to save himself and enrolled in the Imperial Academy.

Enlistment

The young man decided after years of being homeless and alone, he enlisted in the Imperial Army. He had always heard stories of the Empire and almost admired their ways. Kurt also saw it as an opportunity to leave Kiffu, a goal he had been hoping to achieve since the death of his family.

The Imperial Academy

Kurt Vellin spent his time at the Academy being trained in the art of ground warfare, learning the basics of combat, being a proper Imperial soldier, and commanding storm troopers. He graduated and was given the rank of Second Leiutenant in the Imperial Army.
