Biography

Early Years

Kin-Jal Sidewinder was born on Coruscant, in Southport City, on the 323rd Day of Year -8.

Imperial Academy

As a Recruit, Sidewinder received instruction from Naval Lieutenant Eldok Sol. He received a Basic Graduate ribbon in recognition of his studies. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Imperial Army, holding the rank of Private.

Imperial Army

After being assigned to his unit by RADIA, Sidewinder was first introduced to his BCO and his Army brothers, and, based upon recommendations made by Lieutenant Sol, Private Sidewinder became a member of the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, intending to pursue a fruitful career as an Imperial Scout Trooper under then Corporal Kol Seraph. Shortly thereafter, he was duly promoted to Corporal and given command of 1st Section's Bravo Squad in recognition for his service.

Deserter

Some time after being made 2IC of his Section, Corporal Sidewinder received a letter from home. It turned out that his younger sister, Morewen, had contracted an incurable disease, and was going to die in a matter of months. He requested a Leave of Absence to attend to his sister and her affairs, but his unit leadership, although sympathetic to his grief, denied the request, stating that he was irreplaceable and that they couldn't afford to spare any manpower for an upcoming operation. Sidewinder appealed to Master Sergeant Seraph, Sidewinder's former squad leader and current Battalion 2IC, although after bringing the matter up with his superiors, he reiterated their decision, but promised to give the young soldier an Extended LOA only after 4 months. The Corporal begrudgingly agreed to remain on duty for the required period, but less than a week later, Sidewinder rashly disobeyed orders, and in attempting to commandeer an Imperial craft to abandon his post and return home, he ended up throwing away his promising Army career. He was arrested for insubordination and desertion, and was dishonorably discharged, his rank and position stripped, and his name struck from his Legion's records. Of all his former comrades in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, there was no one who felt more let down or betrayed by Sidewinder's actions than Seraph himself, who, as Legion Signals Officer, was the one forced to remove Sidewinder from his unit's records.
