The Imperial Army is the Galactic Empire's planetary military force, enjoying access to some of the most advanced munitions and technologies in the Galaxy, as well as coordinating with the Imperial Navy to better safeguard the Emperor's territories. Given the mandate of protecting and enforcing the rule of Imperial law on the scores of sovereign Imperial worlds, the soldiers and officers of the Imperial Army rely on superior discipline, advanced weaponry, and courage to carry the day. However, the Imperial Army's strength is not in its training regimen or vehicular might, fields in which it dominates nonetheless, but its strength lies in the dedication, devotion, and strength of character of its personnel, from the humble enlisted soldier, to the officers who comprise Army Command.

The mission of the Imperial Army, in short, is to:

  • Defend the sovereignty of Imperial worlds from foreign military forces and insurgent movements,
  • Enforce Imperial law and order in conjunction with the Imperial Navy, officers of the Imperial Security Bureau, and Imperial Intelligence agents,
  • Conduct regular training operations and maneuvers to ensure unit cohesion and efficacy,
  • Coordinate efforts with the Imperial Regional Government to ensure the Emperor's rule remains unchallenged in Imperial space, and lastly,
  • Provide assistance and support in the form of military action to allies of the Empire who so require it.

His Majesty's Imperial Army is led by Army Command, the highest echelon in the service. ACOMD, as it is more commonly known, is comprised of officers who hold the following positions: Army Commanding Officer, Army Executive Officer, Army Logistics Officer, and Army Signals Officer. ACOMD acts as an overarching body, controlling the three Imperial Legions, which are in turn divided into two Brigades each. Each of these Brigades is assigned to a Sector of Imperial space, and they can be identified as either Assault or Reconnaissance Brigades.

Organization

Army Command

Army Command, commonly abbreviated as ACOMD, is the leading body and the highest echelon of the Imperial Army. Usually consisting of the three most senior officers of the Imperial Army, ACOMD makes the influential and everyday decisions that affect the direction of the Imperial Army. Members of ACOMD are also typically members of Imperial High Command, where they represent the Army, among the many other senior representatives from around the Empire. Meanwhile, the Army Commanding Officer is the lone Army representative who has a seat on the Inner Circle.

Legions

"...What sets us apart from the next army is superior training, equipment and leadership - above all else, discipline. It's what makes us a united fighting force rather than a mob with guns."
— Imperial Command Sergeant

The main fighting force of the Imperial Army is the Imperial Legion. Each legion is comprised of ::CLASSIFIED;; number of enlisted personnel and non-commissioned officers, and are lead by ::CLASSIFIED:: number of officers. The personnel in the legion are then divided into sub units known as brigades, which are in turn divided further into smaller fighting units.

Each legion is comprised of soldiers specialy trained in a number of combat and non combat occupational specialties such as infantry, heavy assault, scouting, and many others. Armed with the most technologically advanced weapons, and the best trained and most dedicated soldiers in the galaxy. The legions of the Imperial Army are charged with the responsibility of occupying and securing enemy territory, garrisoning key Imperial worlds, and ensuring peace in the galaxy through the iron will of the Empire.

"Being Imperial ensures that my own race's culture and interests remain intact in a universe with so many different species. Imperial means progress, aid and discipline from the chaos of the galaxy at large."
Imperial Army Officer

The ranks of the Empire's legions are filled mostly by Humans. Not only does this provide the Imperial Army with the advantages of uniformity, stucture and adaptability. The comradeship, dedication, and iron will each soldier shares with eachother is something that cannot be matched by any other army in the galaxy. The Imperial Legionnaire fights, not only for the man next to him, but for the ideals of the New Order, a good and just society, peace and prosperity, and the betterment of every sentient in the galaxy.

Stormtroopers

Imperial stormtroopers are the elite ground troops and main force of the Imperial Army, the metaphorical - and often literal - hand of the Empire, which must sometimes become a fist. These faceless enforcers of the New Order are considered an extension of the Emperor's will. Not only are they beasts on the battlefield, but they are trained to survive and fight in many climates like the enormous and deadly desert planet of Tatooine or the swamps of planets like Kashyyyk; and not only can they effectively fight in these environments, but they are equally at home in any terrain - be it a forest, glacier, desert or a swamp. Stormtroopers are often tasked to survey entire worlds, oversee the construction of massive cities, and most importantly, eliminate any threats to the Empire on land, sea, and air. Stormtroopers - along with scouts, shock troopers, dark troopers and Army pilots -- make up over 50 percent of the Army.

Apart from their main role of fighting in the front line, stormtroopers are the galactic peacekeepers; they endeavour to secure planets by eliminating terrorist and criminal activity, ensuring the safety of people across the galaxy. Along with the Imperial Star Destroyers and TIE fighters of the Imperial Navy, the white armor of a stormtrooper is an icon of the Empire, a common image formed in the minds of civilians when they think of the Empire, and has come to symbolize Imperial purity, justice and power.

Imperial stormtroopers are well-protected by their armor. The helmet, the most technologically advanced piece of the entire armor set, provides Imperial troops with several advantages on the battlefield: an advanced HUD displaying targeting reticule and weapon information, a holographic vision processor with an anti-flash filter which allows the soldier to see in smoky or dark environments, advanced breathing filters that guard against any number of biological or environmental threats, a comlink system that allows easy communications with fellow soldiers, and audio/visual recording devices. A variety of environmental controls can be found in the torso of the armor set, and a back mounted tank provides 20 minutes of oxygen. The back of the armor also contains IFF circuitry to aid in the command identification of each soldier. The shin armor features a padded knee protector plate to provide comfort when firing from a kneeling position. The boots are reinforced to protect the soldiers' feet. The belt is designed to carry spare ammunition, thermal detonators, spare comlinks, first aid equipment, water packs, energy rations, tension wire, grappling hooks, energy flares and more. The body glove is the underlayer of the armor that effectively seals off the wearer from the outside environment.

History

When Hiram Drayson declared himself Emperor of the Galactic Empire, the Grand Army of the Republic was reorganized into the Imperial Army. The Imperial stormtroopers became a symbol of the New Order, most notably due to their unwavering loyalty to the Emperor.

Year 0 to 2

The forces now known as Legions was then called Armies, with the 1st and 2nd Imperial Armies being comprised of two Legions each. These Legions were referred to as 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 2-2. Each Legion was led by a Commanding Officer and his Executive Officer who reported to their Army's Commanding and Executive Officers. There were no confirmed Army defectors during the uprisings against Emperor Connel, a time when many pilots deserted the Imperial Navy to form what they called the Imperial Core. The proven loyalty of these Army officers and their men greatly increased the prestige of the Army. It would remain one of the Empire's most steadfast forces in the next few years to come.

Known Army Commanding Officers at this time include Surface Marshal Trey Connel, Grand General Clockwork, Grand General Beroge, Grand Admiral Black Lodge, Command General Skynet, Command General Sarge, Lord General Discord, Lord General Corranboat, and Lieutenant General Headstone.

Year 2 to 4

With Emperor Charon's approval, the Imperial Army started a massive reformation under the leadership of General SyberJedi. Legions were phased out in favour of Battalions, Companies and Platoons. Battalions were assigned to a Sector and reported to Army High Command and the Moff of their Sector. The 1st Army Battalion, known as Scorpions, were assigned to the Coruscant Sector. The 2nd Army Battalion - Darkblades - were tasked with guarding the Corellian Sector. The Spectres of the 3rd Army Battalion were assigned to the Kuat Sector, as the 4th Army Battalion was to the Farrfin Sector. The 5th Army Battalion, nicknamed "Inferno," were assigned to the Fakir Sector. As needed, Battalions would be assigned Companies to fulfill their assignments. Army High Command was responsible for moving Infantry, Mechanized, and Reconnaissance Companies between the Battalions as strategy dictated. In addition, an elite Storm Corps was formed as a standing unit that would sometimes draw Companies for special missions. Companies were made up of close-knit soldiers who had fought and served together for long periods, creating a cohesive fighting force under the command of a junior officer or senior NCO whose main duties were day to day operations, training, morale and tactical combat operations. The Battalion HQ facilitated the link between strategic planning and tactical combat operations as well as supporting the Sector Moff's requests.

Notable commanders and officers of this period include Major General Kaylene SyberJedi, Command General Sean Patton, Major General Dark Trooper, Brigadier General Chiss Veers along with Allteam, Banquo Knox, Dante Wehr, Jakob Sensar, Jorus Isen, Kharn, Kyp von Exodus, Magnus Locke, Mark DeMeer, Ralic Feali, Seele, Settah, and Vyk Draygo, of various ranks.
