Role

Since the formation of the Old Republic almost 25,000 years ago, beings in the Galaxy have required quality ships for transportation of themselves, goods, and many other assorted items. In recent times, one company has come to stand out among the others when quality, customer service, and price are compared- Corellian Engineering Corporation (CEC). This is the story of a company that started small but soon came to be known Galaxy-wide for its skill in crafting starships.

History

Origins

Corellian Engineering Corporation’s origins can be found leading back as far as 3,000 years before the formation of the Empire. Back in those times, CEC was a moderately small company based in the Corellian Sector, producing small ships for sentients throughout the galaxy as well as large capital-class ships for governments and even the Old Republic itself. As time carried on, CEC became larger and better known as tales of their quality of service spread quickly throughout the Galaxy. It soon grew to the point where, by the collapse of the Old Republic and the rise of the Empire, it was large enough to be recognized as a Galactic-scale company by the Galactic Corporation Assessment Board (GCAB). As technology advanced, however, starships became cheaper and cheaper and as demand grew, many shipbuilders, including CEC, found themselves taxed to the breaking point of their productive capabilities. The growing waiting lists of two companies soon ushered in a new chapter in the history of the Corellian Engineering Corporation.

Directly after the Galactic Republic’s fall and the rise of the Galactic Empire, a shipbuilding corporation was formed called IntelliFish. It quickly rose to great success in the Galaxy, due to the many changes in the Galaxy as the Empire took charge. At that time, IntelliFish produced many well-liked ships such as the YV-666, YT-510, and the now historic Y-Wing. The company was lead by a Jedi for a time before Kolace Jorgensen, a founding member of the Kiner Corporation, made it a faction neutral to the Galactic Civil War. Soon after Jorgensen acquired IntelliFish, the company was merged with Kiner Corp. and helped the small shipbuilding business grow and gain a reputation in the Galaxy.

Kiner-Corp Negotiations

The Kiner Corporation, founded by Albert Kiner, was another shipbuilding company that was not as well known as CEC, but was still a conglomerate of shipwrights very dedicated to their craft. Sentients from around the Galaxy, looking for ships, began swarming the galaxy’s many shipbuilders for their craft. Well known for building high-quality ships, both Kiner Corp and CEC found themselves with waiting lists that stretched for more than a year. Both firms found that they would be unable to keep up with demand and the competition at the same time. Action had to be taken. Negotiations began between Kiner and CEC a few months before the Galactic New Year. Three short months later, Kiner Corp merged all of its assets, personnel and most importantly, shipyards, into CEC. The new, larger, CEC emerged on the 2nd day of the third year since the Galactic Empire was formed. Sadly, the economic situation in the Corellian sector was not looking as bright as it had in earlier years, as a result of rebel activities in the sector. The leadership of CEC decided, after lengthily considerations, to move the corporation’s headquarters and main production area to Bothan Space. While this decision was disputed by many Corellians and some of the members of CEC, the choice turned out to make CEC even more profitable than it already was.

With the combination of Kiner Corp. and CEC, the Galaxy’s 4th largest shipbuilding company had been born, churning out ships at an incredible rate to anyone from the smallest sentient to the massive Galactic Empire. Corellian Engineering Corporation continued its quality service through Year 9 when it became an official Nationalized Faction of the Galactic Empire, producing ships directly for the Imperial government and military. CEC was not done growing yet, however, when it bought Sienar Fleet Systems and incorporated the business into itself. This action boosted CEC to the rank of 2nd Largest Shipwright in the galaxy, just below Kuat Drive Yards on the GCAB list.

Recently

Corellian Engineering Corporation continues to be a leader in ship design and manufacturing in the known Galaxy. Popular ship lines such as the CR-90 and DP-20 corvette and gunship models, as well as the heavily armed Skipray blastboat has allowed CEC to leave the competition in the proverbial galactic dust. CEC has been moving forward from day one, providing quality starships to billions of beings throughout the centuries.
