System

One of the systems of the Bormea Sector, Chandrilla is a moderately restricted system within the Empire with much of the traffic being officially related. Home to several planets, with the majority being temperate worlds of surprisingly easy habitability, a rare occurrence within the galaxy. The system itself has been steadfast in its loyalty, throughout the Imperial Schisms time and time again it sought to remain loyal to the Throne. However, its loyalty went unrewarded, during the Era of the reign of Vodo Bonias the system was subject to heavy taxes, poor support from the central government and cruel treatment at the hands of the former Emperors most loyal Sith.

Chandrilla

A Dark Era

A jewel of the core worlds, Chandrilla boasts lush fertile farming grounds and surprisingly large population, for an agricultural world of the Empire. An idyllic world, Chandrila remained temperate year round, with gentle winters and warm summers. Dry seasons were interspersed with mild drizzles, leading to a lack of drought. Even the winds were mild. Chandrilans lived in harmony with nature, educated from birth in proper maintenance of a balanced ecosystem. Furry squalls could be found wandering cities, protected by law from harm or capture. They also maintained game preserves where the forest birds, and other wildlife. Stalwartly loyal to the Empire, Chandrilla sought in the Empire’s early days to foster strong connections with the central government. Under the rule of Emperor Drayson Chandrilla prospered, growing from a small population of just over a few hundred million to several billion. This growth continued until the reign of Greyson Uebles, the puppet Emperor of Vodo Bonias. Following his rise to the throne, Bonias’ sith were unleashed. Several dozen went to Chandrilla and imposed harsh laws and seized lands from local citizens. Those who refused to submit were outright killed, enslaved, or imprisoned. Population growth began to plummet and the economy of the system crashed, refugees fled to other worlds only to be intercepted and returned to Chandrilla under harsher conditions.
After Vodo rose to power directly he made use of the iron grip his puppet allowed to develop over the system by ordering the construction of several shipyards, under his rule mines were established and materials used to bolster the Imperial War Machine.

A Golden Age

With the overthrow of the Sith, and the rise of Emperor Cherokee, the grip on Chandrilla relaxed, and growth began to once again rise, taxes were slashed, and funding from the central government made its way into the development of the system, expanding existing shipyards and industrial sites.

Matrel Byden Memorial Military Academy

The Matrel Byden Memorial Academy was established during the reign of Emperor Cherokee to train some of the Empire’s most promising officers. Intense and highly dangerous training led to incredibly high dropout rates, and training related deaths. Imperial cadets were required to study a wide range of academics, including science, mathematics, piloting, as well as physical training. Tests were administered frequently to challenge the mental, physical, and emotional limits of the students, as well as weed out weak candidates. Beyond the scope of academics the Matrel Byden Memorial Military Academy taught a wide range of different courses including target practice, military tactics, operating laser cannons, and flying speeder bikes and TIE fighters. Additional optional studies programs included Small Craft Flight, Core Worlds Classical Culture, and Group Command Theory. The Academy had a class ranking system that was based on academic achievement. Points were awarded for academic achievement and deducted for misdemeanors like cheating; which was also punishable by expulsion. Due to its reputation for academic rigor, the Academy frowned upon activities like dating among cadet, sleeping in, and missing lectures. The overall graduation rate for the Academy every year is less than 2,400; marking it as one of the most elite schools within the Empire.
