Early Life

Nikolaj Locke was born on Coruscant in Year -5 Day 289 to Nicole and Evertt Locke. Both of his parents worked for the Galactic Empire, instilling in him a thirst to do the same. Nicole, his mother, worked in Regional Government, reaching the rank of Prefect, supervising construction efforts on numerous planets in the Coruscant Oversector, now known as the Emerald Region. His father, Evertt, was a Colonel in the Imperial Army, who died while on deployment in the Corporate Sector while Nikolaj was only three years old. The only memory Nikolaj has of his father was of the man ruffling his hair before he left on the deployment that killed him.

After Nikolaj was done with his required schooling he entered Imperial service, using his mother’s connections to secure a construction job with the Regional Government. He did well at his work and oversaw more than a few successful building projects but despite his success he still was known for his father and realized that if he wanted to escape his shadow, he needed to follow in his footsteps. Once his job was complete, he applied to the Imperial Academy.

The Imperial Academy

Nikolaj entered the Academy on Year 20 Day 204. Nikolaj had had a very comfortable life on Coruscant during his childhood and adolescence and the Academy was a rather jarring change of pace for him. While he was initially overwhelmed, he quickly adapted and excelled. He made sure to push himself further and harder than was required of him during training. If his classmates ran two miles, he made sure to run three. If they went through the obstacle course, he made sure to do it twice and when they had 90% proficiency on target practice, he wouldn’t leave the range until he had 95%, no matter how many power cells he had to requisition. He also studied harder, longer and more thoroughly then his classmates. The few friends he made resented him a little for making them look less stellar then they were, but he had his reasons. If no one would recognize him for anything other than his father’s son, it would not be because he was unremarkable, and he would NOT trade off his father’s name.

After everything he pushed himself to go through and all the exams had been taken, it all paid off. Nikolaj graduated at top of his class with full honors. When he filled out his exit exam, where he could request his specified branch, he decided that he would force people to recognize him over his father and requested to enter the military as he did. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and made a promise that he would not rest until they called him General.

Service Record

After graduating, Nikolaj was assigned to [REDACTED] and given command of the [REDACTED] deployed to the [REDACTED] system in the [REDACTED] sector. Approaching his assigned tasks with zeal he soon set himself apart from the other officers, proving that when a task needed to be done, it was. However his impatience with the laborious chain of command had him set off on additional tasks without full authorization defining himself as a "square peg". Regardless, after a few short months, he was awarded with the rank of First Lieutenant.

During this time, Nikolaj applied o and was accepted into an officer exchange program and spent a few weeks on a Navy vessel doing a routine deep space scan. Halfway through the exercise the ship was attacked by pirates. Nikolaj, along with another Army officer repelled the raider boarding party while the Navy complement dealt with the enemy fleet. Due to his conduct on the field, he was granted the rank of Captain when he returned to his original unit.
