Behind this, Nikai has fair skin with light eyes and hair.

Nikai was born to Abani and her husband Kanem Tonnak, the chief of Clan Tonnak, on Year -9 Day 338. Their first child, Nikai was raised with the expectation to one day lead the tribe. From an early age the young Kiffar joined his father and other men in the wildlife hunts. The young warrior-in-training showed great aptitude for the hunting of wildlife. It seemed natural selection and society had worked simultaneously to carve his place in Kiffar society – he was bred for hunting. Due to Kiffu's rugged terrain the varying fauna had very tough exteriors. The hunters had to work expertly together to take down even a single beast. Life on Kiffu certainly wasn’t easy for the Tonnak tribe.

Besides the hunt Nikai learned skills from his mother. From utilizing local herbs and roots to cooking, Nikai's parents wished to fully prepare him. During some of his many early hunting trips Nikai would gather various plants to bring back to his mother – some poisonous, some deadly and some lifesaving. Over time through trial and error and his mother’s advice, Nikai learned how to most greatly utilize Kiffu’s flora for his benefit. From crafting poisons to remedies, he learned he both had an aptitude for domestic and militaristic things.

Abani and Kanem’s second child, Nidu Tonnak, was born when Nikai was 10. Despite being the second, Abani and Kanem treated both children as equals and held both to the same prestige. The Tonnak tribe was proud to have a strong son and daughter to carry them into the next generation. Nikai grew protective of his younger sister, overly so some would say. His parents had instilled the idea of family before all else into the young Kiffar’s head. Throughout the rest of his childhood he grew with his skill of hunting as Nidu grew into the skill of womanly duties. It was expected of them.

Rise of Kiffu

When Nikai reached 18 years of age, his father decided it was time for his son to obtain leadership experience. Chief Kanem stepped down provisionally with Nikai's first action being to declare war on the rival Nabovu tribe. Both tribes had been at odds for centuries with the Nabovu claiming the former's land. Nabovu was a tribe of fearsome warriors, even by Kiffu standards. It seemed for far too long the Nabouv dominated nearby tribes with Clan Tonnak resisting on more than one occasion. With the young leader's unique tactics Clan Tonnak emerged victorious and subjugated the Nabovu. Provisional Chief Tonnak was not an overly violent person, however when the Nabovu were conquered he ordered the subsequent execution of Chief Nabovu.

A few months later Nikai stepped down as Provisional Chief letting his father return to his rightful place as head of the Clan. Nikai grew the courage to speak to his father. An idea, a thought, had been brewing in the Kiffar’s head for a year or so now. He wished to venture out into the stars, to other worlds besides the unforgiving one he was born from. To Nikai’s surprise, Kanem took the news well. He was sad his son wished to leave, but felt fighting Nikai on it would only lead to burnt bridges. He took all the skills he learned and the promise that he would one day bring glory to his people and left Kiffu. He didn’t know where he would go or end up, but that was part of the thrill.

Enlisting

Three words came to dominate Nikai's thoughts – the Galactic Empire. He had stumbled across the holocrons that detailed Imperial life and it seemed just like the kind of thrill the young Kiffar male was searching for. Join the army, see the galaxy. After floating around the Kiffex system for a few days, figuring out what exactly he wanted, Nikai made the fateful hyperspace jump to Coruscant. During the time aboard his shuttle he combed through many public documents of the Empire, self-teaching himself much of what there was to learn about the galactic government. He also contacted his family back on Kiffu to tell them of his plans, which they seemed to be supportive. It was bitter sweet for those back at the clan, but Nikai was ecstatic.

The shuttle dropped out of hyperspace at the Coruscant system – the most traveled system in the known galaxy. Needless to say, Nikai was rather lost when it came to getting to the planet proper. He contacted traffic control who placed him on a wait list, as the volume of traffic down to the planet was backed up. It gave him more time to study on his own, so he was not complaining. It took nearly two days to finally get the shuttle down to the surface where he was met with customs. After all, he was a Kiffar immigrant. The fiasco with the Courscanti customs took nearly another two days – Nikai was dying to finally make it to the Imperial Academy.

He was alone on a planet with billions, but that mattered none. He had heart, he had skill and he had ambition. Enrolling himself into the Imperial courses, he mastered the subject matter. Even his physical examination was aced due to his youth on Kiffu. Nikai was a diligent and persistent student, working around any barriers that stood in his way – mostly they were language barriers. Galactic Basic, however taught elsewhere in the galaxy, wasn’t a priority in clan Tonnak. He learned well.

As quickly as he came, he fully graduated. In Year 15, Day 160 Nikai Tonnak graduated from the Imperial Academy with Honours, a gigantic accomplishment for the Kiffar. He declared that he wished to go into the army; he wished to see the galaxy, to be the fist of Imperial strength. He was no longer Warrior Tonnak or Recruit Tonnak, but Second Lieutenant Tonnak.

Fist of Imperial Strength

Officially a ranking officer of the Imperial Army, Nikai was responsible for operations handed to him by his superiors. This would range from exercises to actual combat situations with hostile bandits and anti-Imperial forces. Nikai felt very much as home but still took in his surroundings and learned much of Imperial structure and governance. Sometime into his tenure he met Anabelle Nah`utal. Also a Kiffar, they met on downtime in an offworld bar. Far from their responsibilities of duty the pair hit it off with their similarities and even differences - the two eventually became a couple.

Nikai had always been a great supporter of physical activity, sports in particular, and was eager when he was approved to manager the Kiffex Hrakons in the Imperial Boloball League. The team had suffered a long bout of defeats and decline but with the help of previous manager Khajan Prax, Nikai pushed the team from dead last to the top five with the season waning.

It was at this time that Nikai met Onasha Katr, whom he had very little knowledge of. The Kiffar sister planets scarcely witnessed the power of the Force, but several of his kind went on to become some of the greatest masters in the galaxy. The former Jedi master, Katr, a Falleen noble, had fallen to the dark side and found refuge in the Empire under the benevolence of Emperor Ndengin. Onasha Katr found her skills utilized within the Imperial Army and COMPNOR. Nikai had cautiously approached Onasha about writing for the Coalition for Progress, and was soon accepted provisionally.

The young Kiffar office was soon promoted to First Lieutenant. His Commanding Officer had seen great progress in his skills and was confidant that Nikai would be suited for a higher paygrade and responsibilities. Soon after being promoted, Nikai was accepted by the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order into the Imperial Information Service, under the direction of Guardsman Daelis Stanov, and began writing for Iron Will.

Nikai became more accustomed to his duties at this time, and also with Anabelle. Their relationship strengthened since meeting months ago. Anabelle would eventually put in her transfer papers from Regional Government into the Army. Nikai had no doubt she would flourish here with their shared heritage. The Kiffar pair began to plan a trip to the homeworld, but this was put aside at the time.

Having now served under his CO for several months, Nikai was offered a spot in an experimental military exchange program. Major Bailley Zion stated that the Kiffar would learn much in this program such as vital leadership skills, a multitude of military operations and tactics, and possibly expand critical interactions between unit members. Nikai saw this as an opportunity to expand his experience and garner directions to take back to his permanent unit. Consequently, leaving would mean going further apart from Anabelle, but they both agreed this would be in their best interest.

The new post was a polar opposite from his last. A harsh frigid world, Nikai would be forced to adapt to his new surrounding. The planet had all manner of new creatures the desert-native had never seen before. Giant beasts such as the ferocious Wampa fascinated Nikai. From the view of his AT-AT the Lieutenant observed herds of Tauntaun, particularly aggressive creatures that remained in locked horned battle for dominance.

Nikai earned more regard from his Commanding Officer and was entrusted with mentoring new entrants to the unit in their initial days. This knowledge helped Nikai when he applied to an open part-time position within the Imperial Academy. Dean Syrialus Dantere offered Nikai the position along with a few others.

Early into Year 16, Nikai was promoted to the rank of Captain. After serving two months in the military exchange program under the now Lieutenant Colonel Zion, Captain Nikai was ordered to return to his primary sector.

Captain Nikai boarded the Dyvidium and left Corellia accompanied with seasoned Imperial Stormtroopers. These men and women of the Stormtrooper Corps had now seen great expanses of the galaxy under command of their Captain; the strength and cooperation between them grew with this time. Celebrations aboard the ship were short-lived, however, as Captain Nikai soon received a holomessage from Kiffu. His father had perished in battle against a rival clan.

These extraordinary circumstances allowed the man clearance of a short leave to deal with the death. As the Dyvidium touched down on the battled dirt and plains of Kiffu, Captain Tonnak ordered his men to remain behind.

The sights of his homeworld were both familiar yet exotically foreign to Nikai - having been to many different parts of the galaxy and expanding his experiences. Azur was the capital of the Clan's lands and what Nikai found put him in awe. His father had grown more progressive and adopted more extragalactic ideals such as a more centralized urban center and business. A traditional funeral followed the depature of Chief Kanem for the afterlife. Instead of naming Nikai his father's successor, the clan elders agreed unanimously to pass leadership to his uncle, Nahom, until Nikai would return from the Empire.

On Year 16 Day 137, Nikai was approved a special leave from service. Fresh off his recent appointment as 2nd Legion Signals Officer, the man boarded an Imperial transport headed for the Core Worlds. Dyvidium

When Chieftain Kanem learned his son wished to leave home, he gave Nikai something he knew would help him. Chief Kanem ordered to unearth a long derelict and colossal ship north of the clan. The Dyvidium, as it was called, had been stuff of legend in Clan Tonnak for generations. Exhumed, the Dyvidium now once again saw light in its halls.

The ship now remains the greatest reminder to Nikai of his clan, and where he came from.
