Early Life

Max Corrino was born in the year -2, day 14 on the remote outer-rim planet of Tatooine. He lived in a small hut a few miles east of mos eisley, a small space port filled with criminals, thugs and slavers that would do anything to make money. His mother worked as a shop keeper in a droid and spare parts shop in mos eisley twice a week. His father, Charles on the other hand, was a in the Imperial Navy. He was a Tie fighter pilot and travelled all over the galaxy, but he never got to see Max. Whilst on a routeing patrol over Ryloth, Charles was shot down by a rebel cell and killed when his Tie fighter blew up on impact with the ground. Even though Max never knew his father, he felt inspired by him, and this was one of the reasons that caused Max to join the Empire. Max was also very fascinated with the stars as a young child, and as a young adult as well. Some nights he would sit on the roof for hours, staring at the stars, and learning about everything he could see. By the age of 6 he could name almost half of the constellations that were visible from his house. This was another one of the reasons that motivated Max to join the Empire because he knew that if he did follow in his fathers footsteps he could visit lots of different planetary systems, and expand his knowledge of the galaxy.

On Tatooine Max had a few jobs before he joined the Empire. One of these jobs was scavenging through bins and scrap heaps to find parts that could be sold in the shop that his mother worked in. He earned 1 Peggat a week, which was the currency used on Tatooine. 1 Peggat was roughly the equivalent of 40 credits. It wasn't a lot but over time it added up. Max learned a lot doing this job, like how to fix speeders and small ships, but he also learned a lot of people skills and he became good at running and hiding as lots of people didn't like him rummaging around in their bins. One of the other jobs that Max had whilst he was on Tatooine was helping on a moisture farm that was owned by his neighbours. Because Tatooine was a desert planet, water was hard to acquire without special machines. On the farm Max had to check that all of the moisture farming machines were working and he had to make sure that they were all working to their highest capacity. Max didn't earn any money for this, however he did get 3 litres of water a day for free, and a 50% discount off any other water that he or his mother wanted to buy. This helped to reduce costs a lot, and let Max and his mother spend more money on buying less essential items like medical supplies and spare parts for their speeder which was in a constant need of repair due to how old it was.

Joining the Empire

Max requested to join the Empire in year 19, day 205 when he was in mos eisley buying supplies. His mother envied him at first, but then realised that it was the only thing that he had ever dreamed of, so began to support him with his decision. It took around four weeks for his request to be approved by the Empire, which caused Max to lose all hope of fulfilling his dream, but when he was approved he left for the academy straight after he said goodbye to his mother. There was no Imperial academy on Tatooine, or anywhere near it for that matter, so Max had to travel to the centre of the galaxy to attend the academy on a more wealthy planet. To reach the academy Max had to travel on a shuttle which cost just over 20,000 credits. The trip to the academy took 2 days, but it felt like weeks as the shuttle was full to the brim and the seats were uncomfortable. After an agonising trip, the shuttle finally descended onto the surface of the planet. It was full of buildings that reached stories never imaginable on Tatooine, and they were all made out of metal and glass; not sand. Max was amazed. When the ship landed he disembarked it and headed for the academy.

The Imperial Academy

There are many Imperial academy's situated all over the galaxy. There were the first stop on an Imperials career in the Empire, as everyone who wanted to join one of the many branches of the empire had to attend an academy first to receive the training required for their desired job. Max Corrino attended the Imperial academy on Prakith, and learnt many useful lessons there that would help him in his future career in the Imperial Navy.

Arriving at the Academy

The academy was not a single building, there were dozens of interconnected buildings, some old some new, With here and there open air gardens and hundreds of people everywhere. Most seemed to be in a hurry to get to their destination, but some were just waiting around for something. Max approached the main desk where a man in an Imperial uniform. "state your business here" the officer said looking up from his data pad. "I was told to come here by the recruitment officer on Tatooine. He said I was accepted to the Imperial academy and that my training would start as soon as I got here." "Name" the officer said in a stern voice. "Max Corrino". "ah yes, Mr. Corrino, I remember hearing about you. You are to report to the assistant deans office immediately". The officer pointed down a long hall way as he said it. Max picked up his bag and walked down the hall way. After getting lost Max stopped and looked around for a second, then a man steps up behind him, a cup of coffee in one hand and a box of papers in the other. "what are you looking for?" he said in an inviting voice. "the office of the assistant dean". Max replied. “Office of Assistant Dean Gauge you say, I know where it is, follow me its on my way.”

Max followed him down several passages and then the man stopped in front of a door, “Here's the office” he said pointing at the door. Max thanked the man and knocked on the door. "Come in" a voice replied from inside the office. Max walked in, spoke to the officer for twenty minutes, before taking a data pad from the officer, and leaving the room.

Accommodation at the Academy

The rooms for recruits at the academy were usually big dormitories with rows of bunk beds, and rooms coming off the side for studying and other activities. At best a new recruit would be in a tree person room. When Max arrived at his room he was expecting one of these two, but when he opened the room to his surprise it was a single room. There was one bed with crisp whit sheets against the left wall, and two pillows onto of it. Against the adjacent wall was a desk and a chair with a lamp and stationary set on it. There was also a wardrobe in one of the corners. Inside there were 3 sets of grey Imperial uniform, all with the grey recruit rank badge pinned to the left chest. There was a door in the room that led to a private washroom. This room was nothing like what he had seen on Tatooine, to Max it was fit for the Emperor, but to everyone else it was just a normal room. After he finished unpacking and got familiarised with his new data pad, Max had a shower, got dressed for bed, and fell asleep. He woke up the next morning before sunrise due to his early night. After doing his morning exercise of 50 sit-ups, 30 press-ups, 100 squats, and 10 pull-ups (on the door frame of the bathroom), he had a shower, got dressed into his brand new uniform, and went to the canteen for breakfast. The canteen was a large hall with rows of tables and a buffet stand at the one end of it. The food served there was fairly simple; toast and cereal for breakfast; meat and salad for lunch; and various meals for dinner, depending on what day it is.

Training at the academy

The academy had many types of training that would help all recruits in their future career in the Empire. There was weapons training, vehicle and space craft piloting lessons, and even political lessons. Max enjoyed most of the lessons that he had to do, with only some really boring ones that he didn't like.

Weapons Training

Every member of the Empire, from the army to the regional government, had to be able to use at least a blaster to defend themselves if they were every in danger. In the academy all students are taught how to fire a blaster, and those who want to join the military side of the Empire had the opportunity to fire much larger weapons like heavy blasters, or even anti air guns. Because of max's interest with the Navy, he was given the opportunity to fire weapons that are found on Imperial ships. One of the weapons he had training on was the Empire Turbo laser, ;which was used widely in across all of the Imperial fleets.
