Kurt Vellin is a young Kiffar currently serving in the Imperial Army.

Background

Clan Vellin

Clan Vellin, a small tribe of Kiffar from Kiffu, was known for producing many talented musicians and artists rather than hardy warriors and sly bounty hunters. Mostly nomadic, they migrated from the edges of the deserts to the mountains yearly. In recent times, the Clan has been divided between those who wish to focus on learning the martial arts, and those who hold on to the old ways of peace and artistry.

Early Life

Growing up in a tribe divided by ideologies, Kurt was mentored in both martial and musical arts. His mother, an avid musician, tutored him and his sister Gretta in the ways of the Kiffarian Pan Flute. Kurt's father, one of the hunters of the Clan, mentored him in the art of the slugthrower and sword. In his free time, Kurt enjoyed exploring and causing mischief amongst the other children. One day in year 12, The clan was migrating back into the mountains for the summertime. While crossing through a narrow pass, the tribe was ambushed by mysterious marauders, leaving many dead, including Kurt's sister. Following his father's path for revenge, the fourteen year old boy set out with the rest of the clan's men to track down the killers. Along side his father and the others, they found the hostile village and raided it. In the ensuing battle, Clan Vellin managed to destroy most of the killers and routing the rest, but it before losing many warriors, including Kurt's father. After burying his father and watching the village burn, he returned to his mother to inform her of what had happened.

The Vagrant

After being blamed relentlessly for the death of his father by his mother, Kurt abandoned what was left of Clan Vellin to live on his own, wandering the wilderness of Kiffu. During this period, he would spend time exploring the major cities of his home world. He became fascinated by the off worlders, their fancy starships, and their gambling games, which he picked up a habit for. Kurt enjoyed listening to all of the rumors and stories he heard in the cantinas. Various people from different backgrounds told tales of Empires and Rebellions, criminal gangs, bounty hunters, and other adventures and mishaps.

A Fair Deal

While wandering through the wilderness, roughly five years after the death of his father and sister, Kurt happened upon a small encampment. Under further investigation, he discovered it was an Imperial listening post. Before he walked away, he was held at gunpoint by several recon troopers. Before they could blast him into oblivion for trespassing, a pack of wild howlrunners attacked. After assisting the Imperials fend off the violent beasts, the troopers resumed their detainment of the young wayward Kiffar. One trooper however, ordered the rest to stand down. He introduced himself as the captain of the operation, and thanked Kurt for his assistance. The captain offered him a choice, to be detained and await execution for interfering with a classified imperial operation, or put his skills to use at the Imperial Academy. He chose the latter, believing that this was his opportunity to leave Kiffu and become a warrior like his father.

The Imperial Academy

Kurt Vellin spent his time at the Academy being trained in the art of ground warfare, learning the basics of combat, being a proper Imperial soldier, and commanding storm troopers. He graduated and was given the rank of Second Leiutenant in the Imperial Army.
