From a young age, Aryn and his brother were taken out on the plateau by his father to hunt and learn survival skills, something of a tradition among many of the men in his family. Whereas his brother struggled with many of the lessons, Aryn took to them well, learning everything he could and eventually becoming a rather skilled hunter and survivalist, spending many of his weekends out on the plateau, hunting and camping beneath the stars, away from the servants and luxuries of his families' estate.
